Coworking broadly refers to a collaborative approach to organizing the work of people with diverse tasks in a shared space. In a narrower sense, it refers to such a space— a collective office (coworking space). This is precisely what was achieved with the COLLIDER coworking project—a joint effort involving multiple designers, contractors, and clients. They were united by a shared desire to create an incredible space and a love for concrete and metal.
The lobby of COLLIDER immediately captivates and surprises anyone entering the coworking space, thanks to a wall transformed into an art object by the SENS team. The concept is simple yet striking: linear lighting fixtures are inserted into foam block curtains in a chaotic arrangement, giving the impression that light pierces through the concrete wall.
The most prominent area in COLLIDER coworking is the bar. The entrance to the bar begins with a light installation by SENS—linear lamps arranged in an arc opposite a mirrored wall. The reflection of the lamps creates a cylindrical corridor. The lamps are connected to an Arduino system and programmed with multiple lighting modes: streaming, pulsing, and motion-reactive.
Almost all the furniture in the COLLIDER bar, except for sofas and chairs, was custom-made by contractors based on our designs. This includes a mobile table with a glossy tiled top and red grout, small round tables with concrete tops, mobile steel planters, a small podium, and more. The large bar counter is a particular point of pride, as it was built on-site. This involved designing the structure, marking the frame positions on the floor, consulting with the bar equipment manufacturer, and overseeing the contractor’s pouring of a solid concrete countertop with RGB lighting. The shelves behind the bar and the bar tables were also made by contractors following our designs.
The restroom in the bar is designed in a similarly brutal concrete style. The unique sink shape follows our design and was dictated by its location—a corner cut ensures clients won’t bump into it when entering the room. Red accents appear as neon threads under the ceiling, adding a vibrant touch to the space.
